North Alaskan Malamutes - Malamutes of Influence since 1975
Puppies!!

Tui x Hooch litter at meal time.

Here at North Alaskan Malamutes, we don't have litters for the sake of producing puppies. When we breed it is with the intention of keeping one for ourselves to continue on our lines, and to add to the quality of our kennel. For this reason it maybe years in-between litters.

When we do breed, we select for dogs that are as close to the "standard" as possible in type and movement/structure. Also we try to select dogs that have shown that they can do what the breed is intended to do - work in harness. Of course they need to have good stable temperments, and are healthy.

We place great importance on the temperament and health of the dogs we breed from, as the majority of the pups we breed go into companion homes where people expect their new babies to be long-lived and good natured, as every dog should. We will not breed from a dog that is aggressive in some way, or where there is a temperament issue.

We health screen our dogs prior to breeding to try to limit the risk of hereditary faults, and therefore we test for the following:

1. Hip & Elbow Dysplasia
2. Eye defects such as Cataracts.
3. Thyroid problems

In saying this though, every breeding carries an element of risk. Even though as breeders we test against health issues, only breed from dogs that are good natured and are as close to the standard as possible. There is no degree of certainty that we know EXACTLY what each breeding will produce - there isn't a DNA test that will tell us!

CH North Jack Black, SD, WTD

Jack is a versatile dog, having excelled at everything he does. From showing, through to pack walking and sledding. The only thing he doesn't do is weight pulling!

Jack has a lot to offer us, being a good quality dog with a superb temperament and excellent health.

North Kokane Blues (ai)

Cadence is a lovely girl with a lovely sweet temperament. She loves pack walking (almost finished her WPD title), and being a house dog with her owners Dan and Kerry.

Cadence was shown very sporadically as a puppy, but won Baby Puppy in Show, as well as picking up Bitch CCs and R/Up Best of Breed awards from the puppy class.

Sorry - this picture of Cadence is VERY out of date! She's pictured here at about 7 months of age!
